I have wonderful memories of my End to End bicycle ride last year and I feel so lucky that I managed to get through it without any terrible weather incidents: storms, high winds or floods. Thank you so much to all of you who contributed so generously to charities who help rescue victims of Domestic Abuse.
I had planned to have another 1000 mile bicycle adventure – in the present economic situation poorer families are struggling more than ever to get by, and the pressure is triggering an increase in domestic violence. It never went away.
I thought about doing something different but accommodation has become too expensive for me to afford, so I considered carrying camping equipment on my bike. True, I am a year older – but that shouldn’t stop me. Unfortunately, I had an accident earlier this year, and I badly damaged my already arthritic knees. So I’m going to build up the miles by doing ‘A thousand Miles Around Birmingham’. That can also include going to other places like Gloucestershire or Bicester in Buckinghamshire to visit my grandchildren.
My JustGiving pages are still running and I will be hoping to raise money for Refuge and a marvellous little organisation called Beresford Refuge (I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the survivors whom they have helped.) I will also be supporting Womens’ Aid who are also able to deal with legal matters and lobbying in Parliament.
Great activity Gina. Well done

Hi Gina I followed you last year – well done. I am a mere 73 and will be cycling LEJOG on an e-bike in September. I used part of your route to make my route. You can see my route on these short 19 Youtubes.. http://mikeenewton.wikidot.com/daily-youtubes – took more time to make than the cycling will take!
Kind regards
Mike
