Here is some information about the charities and some shocking facts that will keep me going when I feel myself tiring on my journey ahead.
Womens’ Aid
Womens’ Aid is the national charity for women and children working to end domestic abuse.
An estimated 1.6 million women experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2020.
3 women are killed every fortnight by a male partner or ex- partner.
Refuge
Refuge provides emergency temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing abuse and much else besides. They give survivors time and space and help to sort out their future.
Both these charities…
Often a victim’s only lifeline for hope and expert advice is Womens Aid and Refuge also offers a place of safety to escape to.
Both these charities are desperately short of resources. I am not just pushing myself to raise money for them, but also to raise awareness because a spotlight needs to be shone on the situation that many victims and their children face.
